FromSoftware surprised gamers around the world at The Game Awards when they announced multiplayer spinoff Elden Ring. What was more surprising is that it’s coming out in 2025, just a year after Shadow of the Erdtree launched. Are you ready for another surprise? Elden Ring Nightreign will be playable in February 2025, as FromSoftware will hold its first network test that month.
The network test for Elden Ring Nightreign will take place on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Interested players can register for the test starting January 10, 2025. “The network test is a pre-validation test in which selected testers play a portion of the game before the game is fully launched,” reads the description on the official website.
The first network test of the original Elden Ring took place in November 2021, followed by its official release in February 2022. If we follow the same pattern, we could be looking at the release of Elden Ring Nightreign in May 2025. However, February is busy in terms of games triple-A, blockbusters like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Avowed, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, Monster Hunter are vying for attention Wilds and LAD: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. For hardcore gamers, it will be hard to choose which game to invest their time in in February.
The first online test of the Elden Ring allowed players to explore its opening region, Limgrave. Compared to the rest of the game, Limgrave contributed less than 10% of the resulting map size. Expect a similar amount of content in Nightreign’s first network test.
Elden Ring Nightreign is a three-player cooperative action game that combines characters and elements from all previous FromSoftware games. In its announcement trailer, players have already spotted bosses from Dark Souls 3, and more are on the way. Gamers can get a glimpse of FromSoftware’s multiverse with Nightreign.
Elden Ring Nightreign will be released in 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
