NBC News Daily anchor and chief consumer investigative correspondent Vicky Nguyen appeared on Today episode of the show on Thursday, December 26. During the episode, Nguyen’s interesting choice of footwear stood out to her co-founders.
Nguyen was discussing student loan changes with Weekend co-founders Laura Jarrett and Peter Alexander when Peter Alexander pointed out her bright yellow slippers. She wore a purple suit with it, so the contrasting colors made the shoes pop.
“That’s a good sight!” joked Alexander.
“Oh no no no,” Nguyen replied, explaining what led her to wear slippers to work. “This is the day after Christmas when I thought I had shoes, but I didn’t.
“Listen, they’re very comfortable, I will say,” she added.
Today meteorologist Dylan Dreyer stood by Nguyen’s slipper decision as the hilarious joke continued. “We all want to feel cozy after Christmas, don’t we?” Dreyer said. “We ate too much! We’re just tired!”
Nguyen joined NBC news in 2019 and is performed frequently Today performances since then. She also has three daughters, Emerson, 15, Odessa, 12, and Renley, 8, with her husband Brian.
In December 2023, Nguyen talked about her family BarbieChristmas cards with a theme, with the fact that they like to get into the holiday spirit.
“Every year we try to find something fun in the spirit of the times or something meaningful for us and our loved ones,” Nguyen said Today.com. “The first year we moved to New York, we did a shoot on the subway in old school hip hop tracksuits. We did one that was ’80s workout themed. We just want to surprise and delight our friends and family. .”
“Now as girls get older they have opinions but this was an easy unanimous yes,” she added. “We were very excited to have Barbie in our mojo dojo casa. We just want to create these fun memories for our daughters and give the world something fun and joyful.”
