Wendy Williams’ son Kevin Hunter Jr. shared an upbeat update regarding his mother’s health amid her ongoing battle with dementia.
On Monday, Dec. 23, Kevin expressed hope for his mother’s recovery when he commented on an Instagram post by Charlamagne Tha God, who shared a heartfelt message about the young adult’s recent graduation. Kevin, 24, followed up with an update on Williams, 60, in the comments.
“While I’m here, get the word out quickly about my mother. She’s sober and wants to come home,” he wrote. “We’re fighting to make that happen because isolation kills her faster than anything else.”
Williams, who has battled frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, was seen at Kevin’s graduation at Florida International University in Miami just days before his post. In photographs obtained from TMZ and posted on Thursday, December 19, the former talk show host looked emotional and shed tears of joy as her son received his diploma.
Williams was also accompanied to the celebration by her father, Thomas Williams Sr. and her sister, Wanda Finnie. The former talk show host, who is under judicial custody from 2022, made a rare public appearance using a mobility scooter.
A few days before that, Williams was spotted in Ft. Lauderdale, FL with her nephew Travis Finnie on Sunday, December 15th. The interaction was shared on social media, with Williams flashing a huge smile to the camera after being greeted with her catchphrase: “How are you?”
“Just seeing her smiling face makes my heart smile,” one fan said in the comments of the Instagram video. Another said: “She looks amazing!!!!!! She looks healthy!!” A third exclaimed, “I hope her family is fighting like hell for her. We miss you Wendy!”
Clips from the Lifetime documentary 2024 Where is Wendy Williams? indicated that her relatives are challenging the legislation, which they claim was made without their involvement. Although they can receive phone calls from Williams, they said they do not know her whereabouts and cannot contact her directly.
