A few years after his debut Wordle maintains a loyal fan base committed to guessing the five-letter word every day in as few attempts as possible.

Play the game he bought The New York Times in early 2022, eager Wordle participants have six attempts to work out the word of the day. Within these six guesses, you will use a designated color system to determine which letters are present in the chosen word of the day.

If a Wordle the user guesses the letter that is in the correct place, the tile then turns green. If the letter appears at a certain point in the word, but not in the place the user guessed, it will turn yellow. If the letter does not appear in the word at all, the tile will turn gray.

“One thing I think is important in this game is the initial letter chosen,” Aslan said. “Start with letters that contain commonly used vowels like ‘e’ and ‘a’, consonants like ‘r’ and ‘t’ and sound sequences can be helpful.

“Choosing a word that starts with, for example, ‘q’, ‘z’, ‘j’ or ‘x’ may not be the best choice. Once you get more feedback after a few guesses, users need phonics knowledge to narrow down or eliminate some of the words they might be thinking.”
