It’s hard to pick the ten best episodes of The Boys. Prime Video’s superhero show has finished its fourth season, with a fifth and final one planned, and there’s hardly been a bad episode.
Following a team of vigilantes out to stop the rise of megalomaniac superheroes, The Boys satirizes the likes of Marvel and DC and shows what might happen if Superman and Batman weren’t so heroic.
If you’re not watching The Boys, you’re missing out on one of the best shows on TV. However, if you’ve seen it, now’s the perfect time to revisit the top ten episodes from all four current seasons, ranked by IMDB.
Herogasm: Season 3 Episode 6
This is it, the best episode of The Boys ever, according to IMDB ratings. Herogasm is one big superhero orgy. When a man opens the door with his smart tag, you know you’re in for a wild ride. At one point, The Deep is caught in the middle of a love session with an octopus. At the end of the episode, Soldier Boy finally goes one-on-one with Homelander in a house-destroying confrontation—quite the climax.
Female of the Species: Season 1 Episode 4
The Homelander’s hideous ethics are exposed in the second-highest-rated episode of The Boys when he teams up with Maeve to try to avert a mid-air disaster aboard a plane. Instead of saving the passengers, he lets them crash, knowing there will be no witnesses, later using the incident to defend Supes in the military. Meanwhile, Kimiko’s tragic story is fleshed out and Starlight discovers that life in the Seven isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Here comes the candle to light you to bed: Season 3 Episode 7
The penultimate episode of Season 3 brings a definite revelation: Homelander is actually Soldier Boy’s son. This doesn’t stop Soldier Boy from teaming up with Hughie, the Butcher, to take him down at all costs. There’s also a creative section that takes us into Black Noir’s warped mind as he hallucinates animated forest characters.
You Found Me: Season 1 Episode 8
In the final episode of The Boys season 1, we find out that Butcher’s wife Becca is raising Homelander’s baby Ryan. Fast forward to season 4 and let’s see how that turned out. Despite Butcher’s efforts, Homelander is grooming Ryan to be the uncaring, murderous Supe that he is. This is also the episode in which high-ranking Vought executive Madelyn Stillwell meets a shocking end – Homelander burns her face off with laser eyes.
The Self-Preservation Society: Season 1, Episode 7
The Boys’ identities are revealed in the penultimate episode of the first season. As expected, Homelander emerges and accuses Starlight of betrayal due to her romantic involvement with Hughie. Homelander also finds out why Billy Butcher is so mad at him – he assaulted Butcher’s wife Becca.
What I Know: Season 2 Episode 8
The Seven and The Boys go toe-to-toe in The Boys season two finale. As you can imagine, there is widespread carnage. Homelander’s son Ryan melts Stormfront’s face in a display of power that suggests he is potentially more powerful than his father Supe, but kills his mother in the process. There is a high price to pay for wanton violence.
The Name of the Game: Season 1, Episode 1
The very first episode of The Boys is where it all started, and it gets things off to a great start. Hughie Campbell is walking down the street with his girlfriend when she is suddenly obliterated by a speeding A-Train, who doesn’t really look that remorseful. Thus begins Hughie’s vendetta along with millions of people’s love for the series.
The Famous Five Year Plan: Season 3 Episode 4
This episode saw the unleashing of Soldier Boy, who would become a favorite character for many with his brutal jokes and tongue-in-cheek delivery. Meanwhile, Stan Edgar confronts Homelander in a rare verbal challenge that shows the only way to overcome the psychotic Supe is with words.
Over the Hill with the Swords of a Thousand Men: Season 2 Episode 3
Vought’s dark origins are revealed in this revealing episode, one of the highlights of the second season. If that wasn’t enough, the history of Stormfront is revealed, Butcher gets answers about his wife’s disappearance, and we know more about the powers of The Deep than we ever wanted to.
The Instant White-Hot Wild: Season 3 Episode 8
Soldier Boy turns out to be just as big a villain as Homelander after a shocking twist forces Homelander, Ryan and Butcher into an unholy alliance. When Billy uses Temp V to gain temporary powers, his days are numbered.
