Netflix is ​​set to make a jaw-dropping foray into football on December 25th, with the main stream of two NFL games: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, followed by Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans.

Houston native Beyoncé, who added dazzling star power to the sports day, has been drafted to perform at halftime during the Texans game, which is scheduled to kick off at 4:30 PM ET.

The show will feature Beyoncé performing songs from her country album Cowboy Carter live for the first time — with the NFL teasing that there will be surprise guests joining the Grammy-winning musician on stage at NRG Stadium.

“To Netflix’s credit, they really wanted to see if there was a way to further elevate and build this idea that this is really the first time a major global sporting event is being distributed globally by a single entity at this level and magnitude,” he said.

“I think they thought about making it even bigger and definitely adding a Beyoncé-level star to the day — in addition to what they’re doing with some really great openings to celebrate the holiday…. Beyonce is just the way they thought — and we we certainly agreed with that – that they can continue to build and make it a really special day.”

The show is expected to have an unprecedented audience share as it will be streamed live to Netflix subscribers in the US and more than 190 countries. Residents of Houston and Baltimore without a Netflix subscription will also be able to watch the game on TV. Additionally, NFL+ subscribers will be able to watch the game and halftime performance from their mobile devices and smart TVs.

“From a global perspective, we think it’s going to be a nice extra element in that second game, how it’s going to be really special for our fans,” Schroeder said of Beyoncé’s performance. “It’s her hometown and she’s so excited … to be a part of Christmas Day in the NFL in Houston. I think it was just a big coincidence.”

Netflix previously confirmed that Beyoncé will be joined by some special guests, prompting speculation that her selection of A-list collaborators on Cowboy Carter he might join her on stage.

Some of these names include Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Linda Martell, Miley Cyrus and Post Malone. The others are Shaboozey, Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy and Reyna Roberts.

In 2013, she headlined when her Destiny’s Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams joined her on stage.
