Keanu Reeves played the title character John Wick franchise for four entries and fans were wondering if he would return for a fifth.
Reeves, 60, recently appeared in an interview alongside director Jeff Fowler on CBS News on Wednesday, Dec. 11, where he talked about his time working on Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Before the end of the interview, the actor was asked about the upcoming John Wick spin-off John Wick: Ballerina and if there were any plans to make a John Wick 5 anytime soon.
“You can never say never,” he told the paper, before explaining, “My knees right now are saying ‘I can’t do another John Wick.’ He then admits, “My heart does, but I don’t know if my knees can handle it.”
Despite his latest comments on the matter, the actor has previously spoken about a possible return to the franchise after Ballerina in an interview with Entertainment Weekly which was released after John Wick 4 premiered in 2023.
“I don’t know, I guess I’ll have to lean on never say never,” he said when asked if he could see himself reprising the role once again for John Wick 5. He also noted, “I mean, I wouldn’t do a John Wick movie without Chad Stahelski, we’d have to see what it looked like, it feels really right that John Wick found peace.
Reeves will play the legendary assassin in the spin-off with newcomers Ana De Armas and Norman Reedus. Lance Reddick returns to reprise his role as Charon in the film, which is set in the time between the events John Wick 3 – Parabellumand John Wick: Chapter 4. Fans of the franchise can expect to see their favorite hitman in a new story in a movie in theaters on June 6, 2025.
