Fun gossip and news from the Ritzynews contributor network

Julian Lennon, son of legendary musician John Lennon and his first wife Cynthia Lennon, shared some “disturbing images” on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday, December 18, to raise awareness about skin cancer.

The musician, photographer and philanthropist, 61, first went public with his cancer scare in 2020 when he had a cancerous mole removed from his scalp. Since then, he has been visiting a dermatologist regularly.

In the post, X explained that during a recent trip to New York, he received a call from his “dermatologist – Dr Tess, […] the one who caught and operated [his] Mole/skin cancer, few years ago and literally saved [his] Life.”

The doctor explained to Lennon that the results of his latest scan revealed “2 spots on my skin, shoulder and forearm, one of which was a melanoma that should be operated on as soon as possible!”

Lennon revealed that he flew back to his hometown of Los Angeles, “went straight from LAX airport for surgery” and that the surgeon his doctor had recommended “spent several hours cleaning me up and operating on me with high hopes. that at the end of the day we have clear margins, which would mean being cancer free…”

The artist shared what he called “disturbing images” of his scars as a “timely reminder” to his followers to get their skin checked by a dermatologist.

“It only takes a short while and you might be saving your own life at the end of the day,” he added. “For the sake of yourself, your family and friends, just go to your doctor and do what needs to be done… I love life and I want to live a very long time and this is one path and choice that could determine my future.”

Whether Lennon’s operation was successful is not yet entirely clear. In his post, he explained: “One can never be too sure in these circumstances, but we all believe that Dr Tim saved the day…”

He remained optimistic, looking ahead to the festive season, writing: “Good news of course, would be the best Christmas present ever.” The musician also talked about his history with cancer The Joe Rogan Experience on Thursday, December 19.
