Laura Faddah has been on a legendary run Threat! and now she will have her name etched in the game show history books.
The Memphis native won her seventh game in a row on Friday, December 27, becoming the first contestant ever to win at least seven games in a row and have a total under $100,000. Faddah defeated Tim Aten, the previous record holder, who won seven games in a row in 2016 for a total of $107,499 before finally losing his eighth game.
In Friday’s episode, Faddah faced off against former pension administrator Herb Jeong and data analyst Megan Riddell. While the game was initially low-scoring for all contestants, Faddah saw her score climb to $10,000 after correctly answering several questions in a row. Her lead was so big that the game was out of reach by the time Final Jeopardy came around.
Despite making history, many members of Jeopardy! The reddit forum pointed out that players like James Holzhauer won more money in one game than Faddah with all seven combined. Regardless of her winning totals, some were still impressed with Faddah and her streak.
“Ok I’m convinced Laura made some kind of deal with the devil,” one user joked, while another replied: “I have to say I originally thought she was a “flukey” champion because of some of her “coming. -beind” victory in FJ. Looks like I’m wrong now she’s the 7 day champ,” one person wrote.
Another person wrote: “The queen remains the queen! I personally love watching Laura overcome her opponents in new, unexpected ways lol. I’ll also be curious to see what her return in 2025 will look like.”
“You absolutely can’t play your way to a 7-day reign,” agreed a third person.
Faddah will not return Threat! through March 2025. The Gameshow, now hosted by Ken Jennings, will begin its postseason on December 30, 2024, featuring Second Chance, followed by the Wild Card of Champions and the Tournament of Champions.
