“Superman for All Seasons” is another exceptional story created by the iconic comic duo Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. Sale’s signature artwork complements the setting perfectly, and while Loeb and Sale are already legendary figures in the comics world, this remains one of their best works.
Written by Mark Waid and illustrated by Alex Ross, “Kingdom Come” is one of the most iconic comic book events ever released. Featuring Ross’s breathtaking artwork and Waid’s impressive alternate universe version of Superman, the series is a must read.
“What happened to the Man of Tomorrow?” by legendary writer Alan Moore is one of the most memorable Superman stories. Adapted into the acclaimed “Justice League Unlimited” episode, this comic is widely regarded as one of the most moving and heartfelt Superman stories.
While not a direct inspiration for Gunn’s upcoming film, Geoff Johns and Gary Frank’s “Superman” delivers an exciting story with breathtaking artwork. Frank’s Christopher Reeve-inspired portrayal of Superman adds a nostalgic touch, while Johns’ accessible storytelling makes this series fun for any comic book fan.
