Hudson Meek, known for his breakthrough role in Child driver unfortunately he died at the age of 16.
Meek was taken to the hospital on Thursday, December 19. According to a report by WVTM, a local news station in his hometown of Vestavia, Alabama, the young actor was thrown from a moving vehicle and suffered multiple blunt force injuries. He was taken to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital for treatment, but was pronounced dead on Saturday, December 21, two days after being admitted.
A statement posted on the teen actor’s Instagram on Sunday, Dec. 22, said: “Our hearts are broken to let you know that Hudson Meek went home tonight to be with Jesus. His 16 years on this earth were too few, but he accomplished so much . and made a significant impact on everyone he met.”
The statement also mentioned a “Celebration of Hudson’s Life” to be held on Saturday, December 28, along with a message asking: “Please pray for Hudson’s family and friends as we all process this sudden and tragic loss.”
Fans and followers took to the comments section of the post to share their sadness and condolences.
“What a character guy. I truly have the utmost respect for him and his family. Praying for you Meek family,” one fan wrote. Another added: “Hudson was such a kindhearted and cheerful guy. It was a blessing to know him. May he rest in heaven. ❤️ ❤️”
A third user, apparently a friend, wrote: “You were such a good person and friend who was kind to everyone. We will truly miss you and the light you shared with the world.”❤️”
Meek was best known for playing the young version of Ansel Elgort’s character, Baby, in Edgar Wright’s action crime drama that premiered in 2017.
The memorial will be held at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Alabama and will be streamed live on his Instagram account. An investigation into the details surrounding Meek’s untimely death by the Vestavia Hills Police Department is said to be ongoing.
