How to play hookup
In Connections, players are challenged to group 16 words into four categories based on their relationships. Each group is color-coded to indicate difficulty: yellow for the easiest, followed by green, blue and purple for the more challenging sets. The puzzles often contain homophones, puns, and other clever twists, ensuring that they are rarely straightforward. If players get stuck, they can use the button to shuffle the words on the screen.
“My main advice is to hold off on guessing as long as you can,” Liu said earlier. “You may notice a clear category and think you see five suitable words, but don’t try to guess the four until you’re sure which ones don’t belong. Jumping too soon can cost you a turn.”
Liu also cautioned against what she calls the “rage solution,” a method she admits she sometimes uses herself.
