Diljit Dosanjh Tweeted His Income Tax Certificate

January 6, 2021 by Sam Leave a Comment

Actor Diljit Dosanjh is quite active on Twitter and often responds to tweets and trends that are directed at him. Most recently, the actor took to Twitter to dismiss allegations of an Income Tax probe against him and shared a certificate by the government given to him for his contribution towards nation-building. The actor-singer has been targeted by a section of netizens ever since he has shown his support to the ongoing farmer’s protest.

“Jee Tan Ni C Karda Par Ah Lao.. Aj Haalat Eh Ban Gaye aa Ke Apne Aap Nu BHARAT DA NAGRIK HON DA V SABOOT DENA PEY RIHA .. Eni Hate Eni Nafarat Na Failao Buggey.. Havaa Ch Teer ni Chalaide.. Edar Odar Vajj Jande Hunde aa (I wasn’t feeling like but here it is — The circumstances are such that I have to now give a proof of my Indian citizenship. Don’t spread hate. Don’t target aimlessly, it can hurt others too),” he wrote while sharing the platinum certificate awarded to him by the Ministry of Finance after filing taxes for 2019-20.

“We appreciate the taxpayer, in the Platinum category, in recognition of the contribution towards building this great Nation,” the certificate read.

In another tweet he said, “Ah Lao Fadh Lao Mera PLATINUM CERTIFICATE ‘In Recognition of the Contribution Towards Building THIS GREAT NATION’ Twitter Te Beh Ke Apne Aap Nu Desh Bhakt Dasan NAAL Tusi Desh Bhakt Ni Ban Jande.. Odey Lai Kam Karna Penda (One doesn’t need to sit on Twitter and prove they are a patriot, one needs to work towards it).”

Diljit had recently joined the farmer’s protest at Singhu border to show solidarity and even contributed Rs. 1 crore for the protesting farmers.

Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai Sold To Zee Studios By Salman Khan

January 6, 2021 by Sam Leave a Comment

Salman Khan had sold his upcoming action thriller, Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai, to Zee Studios for Rs. 230 crores, which included theatrical (India + Overseas), Satellite, Digital and Music rights of the film. The news spread in the trade like wildfire, leaving everyone wondering as to why Salman Khan sold the film to Zee Studios, considering that he had earlier got into a contract with Yash Raj Films for theatrical rights, Amazon Prime for digital rights, T-Series for music rights and Zee for satellite rights. Here’s a Bollywood Hungama exclusive on the same.

“YRF had entered into an agreement with Salman Khan Films (SKF) to distribute the film globally on a commission basis, which meant that the income for SKF would vary according to the business the film does theatrically. There is always an element of uncertainty in such deals, particularly in times of Covid-19 pandemic as one can’t be sure about the footfalls and thereby returns from cinema halls. On the other hand, he had entered into a digital deal with Amazon, who had exclusive streaming rights for the film, 8 weeks after its theatrical release. The satellite rights were with Zee, who could premiere it on their channel 8 weeks after the OTT premiere, and music rights were with T-Series,” a source told Bollywood Hungama, adding that the rights were sold to multiple players, and Salman was of the opinion that having it all under the same umbrella would make things a bit simpler and convenient as he could take business decisions without involving multiple parties.

“It’s always better to have all rights sold to the same studio as that makes the recovery model easier. Salman and Aditya Chopra spoke on this and mutually decided to part ways, before they collaborated again on Tiger 3 from March. Adi understands business better than anyone else in the industry and gave him his nod. While Salman got an upfront amount of Rs 230 crores, making him earn a table profit of over Rs. 100 crores, the studio now has all the rights thereby opening up various modes of revenue – ranging from satellite revenues from advertisers, OTT revenue from Zee 5, monetization of advertisement revenue from YouTube and other music apps. In-case, the on ground Covid-19 scenario turns worse; Zee can always go back and opt for the hybrid release model for Radhe – by bringing it on OTT platform within 2 to 3 weeks after the theatrical release.

With a streaming platform like Amazon, this model would have never been possible. Basically, rights of Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai in the same umbrella has opened up various avenues of revenue for Zee as well as Salman Khan,” the trade source explained. With theatrical, OTT and satellite rights sold, the only right pending was music. Salman Khan finally spoke to Bhushan Kumar and amicably decided to part ways on the music front too. Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai is gearing up for an Eid 2021 release in cinema halls.

David Dhawan On Varun Dhawan Growing Beard

January 5, 2021 by Sam Leave a Comment

Varun Dhawan made his acting debut in 2012 with Karan Johar’s Student of The Year along with Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra. Ever since he has dabbled in different genres. From Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania to October to Badalpur to Street Dancer 3D, the actor has experimented in different genres over the years. Varun’s father and filmmaker David Dhawan, however, was quite surprised when Varun chose to become an actor. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, David Dhawan spoke about Varun’s choices in films and what he thinks of his career as an actor.

Talking about Varun becoming an actor, David Dhawan said, “When he got his first break , I got the biggest shock. I wondered when he became an actor. He started working, I saw his work. Then my other son said that ‘Dad, second film you should do with him’. So, that’s how I did a film. I realized he was improving in that film. He did very well and I felt that he will do it by himself.  After that growth was there.”

“When he was doing Badlapur, I was a little scared. I was like what is he doing? He was very quiet. He would come home and go into his room and not talk. He was also growing his beard. I told my wife, ‘When will he shave his beard?’. But that time he was in character. Also, I knew the director very well. He is an ex-FTII, a junior of mine .When he showed the film, I understood it was a good film. I thought it would be arty. After watching, I felt it was commercial, both he (Varun) and Nawazuddin were there. After that I just let him be and do what he wanted to do, as I knew he would not listen to anyone,” Dhawan added.

Exhibitors Association Wrote Letter To Salman Khan

January 3, 2021 by Sam Leave a Comment

The cinema halls in India were the first to shut shop when the number of COVID-19 cases in the country saw a rise in March, 2020. By mid-March, every theatre in the country had to stop functioning. While unlock India started in June, the theatres were allowed to re-open only in mid-October. Some of the states are yet to permit the re-opening of cinema halls. However, despite the reopening of cinema halls, it has not managed to get sufficient footfall.

During the pandemic, many single screen theatres had to shut down permanently because of the losses incurred. Now, several exhibitor associates from across the country, wrote a letter to superstar Salman Khan to release his upcoming film Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai in every theatre in India to boost business. Salman Khan has been the king of box-office and every film of his earns 100s of crores. Exhibitors in the letter said they believe that Radhe will bring back the audience to the theatres and help them climb out of their financial strains.

In the letter addressed to Salman, they wrote, “As you are aware, 2020 has been a rough year for millions of people across the country & the ones associated with India’s film exhibition sector haven’t been an exception. Over the last 10 months, hundreds of single screen/ Independent cinemas have pulled down their shutters permanently & this has resulted in the loss of livelihood for lakhs of people who were employed by them directly & indirectly.”

“Films are to theatres what fuel is to a car. Without a constant supply of content that is relevant to its audience, running a cinema hall is close to impossible. For over a decade now, your films have played an important role in bringing audiences to single screen cinemas, which are otherwise starved for content that caters to the sensibilities of people who patronize them,” they added.

“Your film Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai is among the few that are capable of resurrecting the fortunes of independent / single screen cinemas across the country. A film like that, if released widely can give not just financial support & relief, but also a ray of hope to owners & employees of theatres in the context of their future. We request you to plan the film’s release at every cinema in the country on Eid 2021, as there cannot be a better idea than that for us film exhibitors & more importantly for millions of your fans, whom we cannot wait to welcome back at the theatres,” the wrote requesting the actor for a mega release of Radhe.

Sanjay Dutt Said Don’t Insult Me To KGF Crew

December 31, 2020 by Sam Leave a Comment

The cast and crew of superstar Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 are simply bowled over by Sanjay Dutt’s dedication passion and determination. Dutt who plays the film’s chief protagonist was diagnosed with a terminal illness. He not only fought the illness, after his treatment he immediately rushed to Bengaluru to join the crew of KGF 2 which was waiting to shoot the intricate climax action sequence featuring Dutt and Yash.

An eyewitness from the location states, “Our main concern was Mr. Dutt’s health. We wanted him to work in a safe and comfortable atmosphere. Yash and director Prashanth Neel suggested that Mr. Dutt’s stunts should be simplified. But he wouldn’t hear of it. ‘Don’t insult me by suggesting that I’m not capable of doing the action scenes. I will do them exactly the way they were written, no compromise, no cheating’ He proceeded to do the stunts all by himself, even the more dangerous ones he refused a body double. And he did them perfectly.”

The location where the fight was shot was filled with dust. “Yash Sir suggested that Dutt Saab’s place be freed of dust and sanitized properly before every shot. But Dutt Saab refused. He said, ‘How will it look on the screen if my shots are cleaned out? The audience is too clever. They can make out the tampering,” says the source.

The unit of KGF2 is extremely impressed by Sanjay Dutt. Yash told this writer, “He is a fighter, a real-life hero.”
