Following the news of David Murphey’s death, 90 Day Fiancé the cause of the star’s death was revealed.
The outlet also said Murphey had a history of pulmonary embolism, which occurs when a blood clot forms a blockage in one or both lungs. For this reason, Murphey’s death was considered natural.
Although news of Murphey’s death only broke this Wednesday, December 18, the reality TV favorite actually died last week, according to a social media post by his family.
“David was a veteran small business owner and software engineer,” read the post’s caption. “Recently retired from the Clark County Treasurer’s office in Nevada, he also worked for H&R Block and IGT. 90 Day Fiancé: 90 days ago. His time on the show allowed him to connect with viewers, see the world and share his experiences with thousands of Instagram followers.”
TMZ noted that sources close to Murphey revealed that he was also “sick with liver cancer, diagnosed over a year ago”. They shared that Murphey “had over 13 surgeries in the last year” and was scheduled to undergo another procedure before his death.
On 90 Day FiancéMurphey was famous for his engagement to his Ukrainian girlfriend Lana, whom he dated for seven years before meeting in person on the show. The couple broke up shortly after Murphey appeared 90 Day Fiancé.
Murphey is survived by his two sisters and his cat, Gamera.
